Edward J. Kohlhepp, Jr.
Ed, Jr. is the President of Kohlhepp Investment Advisors, Ltd. Ed obtained his CFP® designation in May of 2006 and his additional credentials include the Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses, as well as Life, Health and Variable Annuity licenses. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association. Ed graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Ed also acquired his Masters in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University in May of 2000. Before joining the firm in July 2000, Ed worked for the Walt Disney Company and the Vanguard Group.
Ed resides in Buckingham Township with his wife, Jennifer. Their first child, Brett Mallik, was born in May 2006, and they welcomed their second child, Matthew Edward, in May 2008.
Ed Jr. also enjoys cycling, although two young boys don’t allow much time for that these days, and toured Holland by bike in 2004. After studying abroad in Norway in 1991, Ed discovered his love of the Scandinavians and has since been trying to convince his friends and family that he is a Viking. His Viking characteristics drive his goal of seeing all of the country’s National Parks and so far he has visited Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Zion, Acadia, Grand Canyon and Everglades. He also has a goal to watch a game in all of the hockey arenas in North America (but has quite a way to go with this one as his tally is only up to 8, although he’s making progress). If Ed Jr. ever decided to leave this industry, there is no doubt what he would do. He seems to have missed his calling as a meteorologist and can give a more accurate forecast than any news station around.
Edward J. Kohlhepp, Sr.
Ed is the Founder and CEO of Kohlhepp Investment Advisors, Ltd. He specializes in retirement and distribution planning for the firm, and his credentials include the following: CFP®, ChFC, CLU, CPC, and MSPA. He has the following securities licenses: Series 6, 7, 24, 63, and 65, as well as Life, Health and Variable Annuity licenses. He acquired his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from LaSalle University and his Masters in Business Administration from Temple University. Ed obtained his first license in the industry in 1969.
Ed has lived in the Doylestown area since 1977 with his wife, Betsy, and has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. He previously served as Senior Associate Professor at Bucks County Community College teaching Accounting, Finance and Statistics and the Bucks County Estate Planning Council. He is a member of the following organizations: the Financial Planning Association, the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, and the American Academy of Actuaries. Ed is listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in the East, and the Who’s Who in America.
In spite of all of Ed’s credentials and expertise, he does like to spend some time out of the office. He is an avid golfer, although his score denies any sign of improvement no matter how much time he spends on the course. Since 1983, Ed has practiced shotokan karate and you can sometimes catch him wearing his black belt around the office. He has also been teaching karate to children ages 5-12 since 2000. Ed has a passion for music and has been playing the saxophone since he was a kid. Most recently, he relived his band days with a guest performance at his oldest daughter’s wedding. When the weather is nice, you’ll often find Ed taking long drives with his first, true love (don’t tell his wife!) – his 1968 Pontiac GTO.
Mary Beth Kohlhepp Roche
Mary Beth joined the family business in August 2006 and is now Director of Operations at Kohlhepp Investment Advisors, Ltd. In her time here, Mary Beth has learned the business from the ground up, beginning as an administrative assistant. She has since obtained her Series 6, 7, and 66 securities licenses, and is now managing the operations of the firm and providing compliance support. Previously, she worked for a boutique marketing/public relations firm, in Wayne, PA and a global medical device company, based out of Marietta, GA, as a medical sales representative. Mary Beth was a Division I volleyball player at Marist College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2000.
In December 2007, Mary Beth married Marty Roche in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They welcomed their daughter, Ella, to their family in 2014. In the summer of 2016, Mary Beth’s family moved to Chapel Hill, NC.
In recent years, Mary Beth succumbed quickly to the delusion that she could resume her volleyball career. She has decided that tired, abused joints are better spent jumping in puddles when it rains rather than jumping on the court and swinging from monkey bars on the playground rather than swinging at the volleyball – Ella happily agrees! She and her husband enjoy traveling together to experience as much culinary and cultural adventure as they can and have visited Iceland, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Alaska in recent years. Currently, her focus is mainly on getting acquainted with the culture of life in the south, exploring questions like “What’s so great about grits, anyway?” and “What the heck is a Tar Heel?”
Todd Purring
In March 2014, Todd joined Kohlhepp Investment Advisors, Ltd. and has naturally transitioned into his role of Associate Advisor. Todd previously worked at Lincoln Investment Planning and holds his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses as well as his Life & Health Insurance license. Todd is a graduate of West Chester University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He has also acquired a Certificate in Accounting from Delaware Valley University.
Todd grew up in Horsham Township and played football at Hatboro-Horsham High School, where he earned a spot on the 1997 Montgomery County All Star team. Todd now resides in Furlong, with his wife Rebecca, and his sons, Bobby and Joey, born in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
Todd has a true passion for the markets. We often catch him during his lunch break building model portfolios and playing with the latest stock market apps on his phone. Much to Rebecca’s dismay, dinner time often consists of Todd grilling his boys with questions like: “Where did the market close today?” and “What’s the difference between a Mutual Fund and an Exchange Traded Fund?” He also has a habit of making his boys' new friends complete a risk profile questionnaire when coming over to the house. There is a rumor that Family Game Night consists only of Monopoly, Risk and Life.
Joann Hufnagle
In September 2008, Joann joined the forces of Kohlhepp Investment Advisors, Ltd. After holding various positions with Prudential Financial for 18 years, Joann decided she needed a change. Since joining the firm, Joann has taken on the challenge of keeping both Eds in check while providing essential support for our clients as Client Service Associate. She is also a Notary Public. Joann graduated from Lansdale School of Business with a degree in Business Administration & Accounting Management.
Joann resides in Sellersville with her husband, Joe. Joann’s kind and generous spirit has made her a natural caretaker. She enjoys volunteering for Mostly Muttz Rescue, a foster based canine rescue striving to save dogs in the shelter system, as a foster parent. So when she’s not training Joe (ahem, spending time with him), together they and their resident dog, Noodles, are training, cuddling, loving and playing with adorable pups they have welcomed into their lives before they transition to their new home. Sometimes Joann needs to be reminded where she is when she is caught in the office using commands like “Stay, Ed! Stay!” or when she offers a dog treat to someone after shaking hands and says, “Good boy.”
